Breakin' and Sunshine

“Take Take
Everything that wasn’t even yours.”

Your bi-polar anger kept the walkway in darkness.
You never bothered to clean up the glass pieces
Of my shattered self.
{you were the one who
Put
Them
There}
My feet left trails of glistening tears.
Everything inside was stolen.
Everything important was lost.

“Break Break,
You don’t have to hold me anymore.”

You shattered my bottle-necked dreams across the walls.
You added their shards to the walkways,
Some of them you used to fracture my see-through heart.
You collapsed our house of cards with your screams.

“I see you in a silhouette,
Do you feel regret?”

I turned my back on your insults.
The house you hastily built around us collapse around you.
We escaped your wrath.
I veered off your walkway of glass.
I stepped on the darkness and walked toward the strand of light.
I had come full circle.

“It’s a new day,
It’s a brighter day,
Even when you stand in the dark.”

The sun burned my cheeks with smiles.
I crawled for many days while my mind struggled to re-learn how to walk.
I heard his yells behind me.
The song birds helped block him out.
There’s no longer a reason to cry,
To be angry.

“Show me something true,
Forget about the sunshine when its gone.”

Colors blend together through the children of thunder and lightning.
The clouds disappear. A new
World
Is born.
The pavement glows,
Grass glistens green,
The sky is flecked with white.
I see my new life
Without
Him.
