Break that Heart

Break That Heart

I saw you looking

You saw me

Grinds in like saws but painlessly

You were you

I was I

Until we merged under moonlight

The night went by and turned to day

We shined bright but turned to gray

I was shocked

So were you

I didn't know what to do

We were young

We still are

Not behind control of cars

Safe to say we're far from stars

High above in disregard

So if you should go and decide

That everything we had were lies

And if you should want ways to part

You better go and break that heart

I knew you

You knew me

We've played these games

We've queued these scenes

When I was grounded

You were high

Now my heads up in the sky

See that empty space where I lay?

You could've changed that mistake

Your color seemed to change in hue

My passion's red

My soul, though

Blue

I thought we had a promise kept

You promised us when we next met

Believing you was my regret

But you're a kite

And I'm a jet

So if you should go and decide

That everything we had were lies

And if you should want ways to part

You better go and break that heart

Standing by crossroads of life

Waiting for my sacrifice

To pay me off in this long run

Endlessly

It kills my lungs

I messed up

I'm desperate

Asking

Counting all the minutes passing

To the moment I'm your toy

And people ask

"Where is this boy?"

I have to rediscover treasure

So I may indulge in your pleasure

Till the knot is tied and tethered

To our lives

In Love

Forever

But if you should go and decide

That everything we had were lies

And if you should want ways to part

You better go and break that heart

My pen and ink has wrote enough

I tell you I won't do this stuff

As much because it is my vent

For the things I haven't said

Like is this right?

It must be right

It's not wrong

It's worth the fight

Why give up?

Why give in?

Why's your love still a mission?

I was always ready to bring

A ship that sailed a polished ring

It brought a king

And he rules me

So why can't I just be his queen?

Don't know why you'd go and decide

That everything we had were lies

But PLEASE

If you want ways to part

You better go and break that heart

I know it's me

That must be it

How did you learn that passive trick?

How did you get yourself that slow?

I always rush

So let me know

How do you think when you're alone

Talking to pets when you're at home

Or into mirrors

At yourself

Speaking into it for help?

Do you take your own advice?

Or do you turn on your device

To reason whether you'd give in

Or watch her suffer in a heist?

So tell me...

Did you go decide,

That everything we had was lies?

If so

Before our ways could part

You better go and break that heart

You have your life

I have mine

We just don't know how to combine

I try my best

I try real hard

I feel as if I played my cards

A lucky

But these cards got numbers

Just one higher than the other

They can't tell you what's there LEFT in spite

The fact you think you've played them RIGHT

I've always been a girl of action

Or the opposite

Inactive

I sail this ship with the king napping

With a complicated captain

DAMN

If you should go and decide

That everything we had were lies

MY GOD

If you want ways to part

You better break that goddamn heart

Just tell me how

Did things just change

When I came into your range

From such a distant gap of time

From way back when

When doves would cry

As they flew by

By us in Love?

Was it all a silent bug

That crawled into your complexion

That made you think that Love

You're in?

I put it away for years

Now seen

We've had nightmares

But not once dreamed

I just can't stand to see you go

So promise me an excuse to leave

Because if you should go and decide

That everything we had were lies

I will always want things to restart

Make sure it won't happen again

Break that heart

I wrote this poem when I felt I had no one to vent to but my book and pen. It's about thinking everything was fine only later to find out they didn't feel the same way.
