Break the chain

every woman got preganant by 21

No one decided to get a 4 year degree

I saw how they lived on welfare

and could not keep a stable home

I have to break the chain

The odds were against me as I grew up

people telling me to never overcome

But still i said I have to brake to break the chain.

I  pushed through the insults and I pushed through the pain

I told myself I will break the chain

I looked around at the family legacy

shuddering I demanded my self to break the chain

at 50 I looked back at my life and smiled

because I broke the chain
