"The Brass Plaque"
An ancient golden hue of sorrow
Haunts my yesterday's tomorrow.
My pilfered time yet still on borrow
The Brass Plaque.
Breakers fraught with crying cheers,
With stifled gasps and soft "oh dears"
Yet the only words to find these ears;
The Brass Plaque.
Into the basement, shut the door,
Refuse to bide it anymore.
I cannot let them take my shore.
The Brass Plaque.
A fire blazed in hearth and mind,
No more the honored hand will bind
A final end and rest will find
The Brass Plaque.
