That Boy

That Boy

By Katie Zehr

The first day of school was how I came about knowing him

We met in human biology which was a class full of catastrophes
That first night after class we walked back together in the rain

He recognized my last name from wrestling my brother back in the day

I was starting to think is this fate?

His face is like sunshine even though it was raining that night

I knew from there on after that he was someone I could never get out of my mind

Throughout the first semester every time we saw each other we couldn’t get our eyes off each other

He looked at me, I looked at him

an immediate connection that no one could ever understand

The times where we bumped into each other were magical and indescribable

Soon after next semester came along and human biology class was long gone

Not much of anything came into place but a friendly hello and on our merry ways

When I want to make a move he usually is always with his crew

He is so shy and I don’t understand why

There is something about that boy that I want to be mine

I will never fathom the idea of why you look at me like you always have

There is something about this boy that is a mystery to me

Someday maybe we will come to be and I will then know it is not a dream

But something that always was meant to be
