Bow ties and Bourbon

Bow ties and Bourbon

like heartbreak and blues

Put a tear in your eyes

But a pulse in your shoes

They move you to dance

As if no one is watching

They remind you of life

Even when death is knocking

But bow ties and bourbon

With the smell of cologne

hangs fresh in the air

Even when you’ve gone home

The memory of an evening

You’ll never forget

The smoke in your clothes

You’ve come to regret

But bow ties and bourbon

Are as timeless as rhymes

And help you look back

Beyond dollars and dimes

To a time when your life

Was more than just living

To a time when the taking

Was as fun as the giving
