Blackest Night

What is Fate?
What is the fate of man?

Is war the definition of man?
Are we the embodiment of evil?
Or is war  the epitome of all life?

Many fear that the answer will come too late.

The dimmest reality is-
Evil lies in everyone.
War consumes ones mind-
One's innocence.

But as the shining truth of humanity will prove-
For every Evil there is Good.
For every sentiment of war, there is a sentiment of peace.
For every lie and every secret, there is a truth, waiting to be told.

For that is the paradox of man.
Good and Evil will always be combatants-
One side fighting for war, the other fighting for peace.

Each side fighting 'til the end of time.
So yes, the fate of man will always be war.

But there is hope.

Every bombing will be met with those dedicated to helping the victims.
Every act of terror will be met with good will.
Every villain will be met with a hero, a Superman, aiding the helpless.

Justice exists in this world.
Whether it is in the form of a superhero,
Or the kind act of a random stranger.

Because that is the struggle of life.

For all of Evil's strangth and might-
Every injustice will be brought into the light.

Hope and Peace will endure man's fight-
From the brightest of day, to the blackest of night.

I wrote this poem shortly after the Boston bombing. I did so, because I continually heard people talk about how awful the world is and how terrible people are. But people forget about the first responders and the unsung heroes that helped those who were scared and/or hurt. I felt that I needed to recognize the fact that peace and unity does exist in our world, even if it isn't as prominent as all of the bad.
