Black Enough
I’m tired of these white boys
Saying I'm not “black enough”
I “act white” and “talk white”
So I don’t match their model
I’m tired of them white boys
Trying to define how I should be
Like my blackness somehow dependent on how they perceive me
I was born into black
So I don't have to fit stereotypes
I was born into this culture
And I'm damn proud of who I am
I'm black because the melanin
But it's more than skin deep
I'm black because my heritage
Stemmed from roots of slavery
This hair come thick
This blood run thicker
Community
Family
Soul music
And momma’s cookin’
There isn't any person
Who can tell me how to be
So just let me live my life
Because I'm black enough for me
