Black Coffee

Location

She likes her coffee black

And in her system

Before the sun rises

It reminds her of her mother

And she often wonders

If her mother ever felt

Lonely when she was the

Only one awake in their

Too small apartment

She hates the way her town

Looks at noon

Busy and over crowded

But at night it’s an exact

Replica of her heart

Bright and quiet

Lonely with only a few travelers

So she stays because the

Fear of losing that part of

Herself is bigger than

The need to get away

She often dreams of leaving

Of meeting new people and

Becoming who she is supposed

To become

But then she remembers her mother

And realizes the only way

She will ever get out

Is by following her mom

                                             Down

                                                             Down

                                                                            Down.

To that old graveyard

On the edge of town
