Birthday Card for Nataliya

Mon, 10/27/2014 - 16:56 -- ejoyce

Dear Nataliya,

Nothing Rhymes With Nataliya.

Trying To Rhyme With Nataliya

Is A Fatal-liya.

When You See Me Running

I’m Humming,

“Can’t Race”

There’s Pain In My Face.

But You!

You Do You!

And You Do Her Well.

She Is Damn Hot, Smart, And Swell.

I Love Her To The Dell.

I Know We Run,

(Better Go At The Gun),

And Only Crazies Know That Fun,

But I Know For A Fact That You Are The One.

The One That Makes My Day.

The One That Makes Me Play.

The One Who Makes The Double Play.

The One Who Flies Away.

Give Me An Action Replay,

But No Radioactive Decay.

Or Dental Decay.

You Are Too Sweet

To Everyone You Meet.

We Can Dance To The Beat

In the Backseat,

With Passion,

As You Can Imagine.

But Hey!

Let’s Ride In A Sleigh.

The Angry Horse Says Nay.

He Does Not Want To Go

For A Walk In The Snow.

It Is For A Date,

So At Any Rate,

Maybe We Can Mate.

May You Preserve

What You Deserve.

Happy Birthday, My Love.

You Are as Beautiful As The Most Majestic White Dove.

I wrote a poem for my friend Nataliya.  The way it is set up, and the way the different topics bleed together seems somewhat lyrical to me.  When I gave this to her, she read it outloud, and then, somehow, we both started crying.  It was such a moment.  I guess the poem was very moving, regardless of how much sense it made.
