Big N Tall, Black N All

Thu, 03/12/2020 - 11:55 -- _bskyes

the heart of a girl
who loves, who cares
gets pride ripped from her world

she doesn't understand
she wants to make change
but cant make people think
the world we live in is a trap
a trap that steals from us
a trap that tells us what to do
a trap that will put a bullet behind an innocent black man or female
why?
black is beautiful
we have beautiful roots
doesn't matter where I go
College Park or Central Avenue
I'm black wherever I go
Big N Tall, Black N All

being black is everything
from our perfect complexion
to our minds
the black excellence is what makes us, us

maybe we're looked at the wrong way
maybe we have a sign on our backs that makes us targets
kids go outside to play
just to be shot at everyday

teenagers can't go to school
without thinking the worst
going to school as a target
for a bull
with red devil eyes and an evil spirit
running through their veins

a black child can't go to school with natural hair
because it's against certain school rules
souls are crushed, minds are brainwashed
the things we let children see
should be beneath thee

parents shouldn't bury children
children should bury their parents
the flames of heartbreak fills the entrance
of reality
mothers without their child
the cold mornings and nights without their laugh
the aching heart when they meet the murderer
reliving that harsh phone call or greeting from officers

that hospital drive
to say goodbye, forever
make a mark while your on earth
let others follow, forever

children of today, stand for what you believe
not because of what one friend said about life last week
follow your own path
do your own thing
don't do drugs, or you'll receive death
smile, educate others
your blackness shouldn't define you
as bitter, a murderer, a gang member
but as someone who creates magic
someone who wants to spread a message
someone who wants to change the black community
with positivity
instead of hatred or demised
Big N Tall, Black N All
your beautiful
your meaningful
your are life.
