Benny

My little pooch Benjamin,

Fluffy as my feather pillow

A blotchy black and white coat like a Holstein cow

With a small black rubber nose

He gallops and squeals when seeing me

His little legs move fast like lightning

Diving into his favorite teddy he skids across the floor

He looks into my eyes with his chocolate eyes

Then he smiles at me with gritty teeth

Ending the day, he kneads his blankets into a bed

I watch his soft eyelids flutter as he dreams

With his velvet tongue he licks his lips

Fantasizing about meaty dog bones

Imagining poofy white poodles

Pondering the scratchy green play balls

Dreaming of chasing old stray cats

Craving our long walks in busy parks

Sleeping with him by my side,

Ben comforts me through my worst dreams

Gazing at his angelic sleepy face

I close my eyes to fall asleep once more
