Beneath This Smile

Location

No one could see this coming

She hides it so very well

Smiling fake smiles

While reliving her own hell.

She said she was feeling down

You chose not to see

And now she hides

Behind this mask of uncertainty.

Her pain overflowed to a knife

But no one saw past her smile.

She was a master of disguise

If only for a while.

Her smile was wavering

Can't you see it's fake?

Allow her to hide

For her sanity's sake.

If only someone could see

She only wanted happiness

A smile worth more than a mask.

Instead of all of this emptiness.
