Being Set Free

Mon, 01/20/2014 - 11:11 -- faith01

There once was a girl,

who pushed tight against the world,

unable to reveal her fear

like unraveling satin

only her fabric’s

tampered by satin.

There once was a girl,

with identity twirls,

slowly releasing all tears

like a beggar to the rich man.

There once was a girl,

whose body shined blue,

from the chill of persecution

abandoned by peers,

unable to set herself free.

There once was a girl,

who changed her own fate

and stood proud to her name

exclaiming ‘somebody notice me!’

There once was a girl,

with feet stuck in chains,

her need to escape

crushed the urge to be sane,

and again she fell to her struggle.

There once was a girl,

who let go of the past,

only glimpsed at what had,

and strives to leap at flight.

There once was a girl,

Who flew past her mistakes,

she poisoned them with grace,

she’s seeing brighter days

prepared to battle todays struggle.

There once was a girl,

who made her own perfect world,

here she is known,

she releases societal pressures.

There once was a girl,

who found who she was,

found someone to love,

who stuck out like a sore thumb

to many.

Now there’s a girl,

that’s beginning to see,

each day is a dance,

the movement of her feet

spark courage and oneness

and she’s being set free.
