Beginnings of Love

Wandering the world
With hands of ice
And a heart of blackened charcoal
I roam through my life
Wading in endless monotony

Loud, rough voices and tones
Echo in my ears
And pound in my mind and my heart
I listen to them
Despite all of the pain and agony

I saw no light
In my dark cold
Walking about like a bumbling foal
Not for so long
Not so long as I did not have you

When I first saw
That golden glow
My blackened heart began to fall apart
So bright, so pure
For the first time, something new

My hands were warmed
I followed that glow
Feeling a bright fire spark in my soul
A blaze so warm
Never so dazzling to me was a flame

Then to speak
To find that warm light
A voice so soft, to touch a gentle art
Supple and smooth
I such wonder I was, I had only me to blame

Now willfully caught
Within a spell
A heart to be stolen with no toll
Now warm and calm
I shall wait to lay in his arms; to feel his love for my own.
