Because I Love You

Because you love my eyes a blue

Because in you my soul it grew

When you say it’s “because I love you”

I know your heart it will be true

Because I need you in my arms

Because I need you safe from harm

When I say that “I love you too”

Know my heart wants me with you.

Because my heart is open to you

Because when I speak my words are true

When I say “because I love you”

know that there’s no payment due

Because boundless love can only grow

Because we stayed when others go

When I am grey and I am old

I love you more than my life told

You held my hand when I feared

As my final breath drew near

When I saw your saddened face

I fell into death's embrace

Then my love I finally knew

By dying now I’ve killed you too

This poem was inpired by those I admire in my community and in my family,

I found my inspiration by interacting with and talking to couples in my community,

talking to my friends experiences with love, and reflecting on my own family and

the love they show each other. I hope that whoever reads this poems feels

not only the love these people feel for eachother but also my hope for how I will

experience love. I also hope that who ever reads this takes it into thier hearts and with it

reflects on thier own lives and loves.
