Beautiful Crown

Head full of curls

Soft to the touch, but hard to handle

Sitting on top of the heads of melanin enriched girls

The beauty of my roots sits upon my head entangled

I have embraced my coarse hair

I love that my skin is brown

My curls flourish under the sun’s glare

They are a part of me, a beautiful crown
