BEAT OF MY HEART

I woke up at dawn

With crickets tuning loudly

To usher in the new day

But I still hear this

Voice in-side of me

And I wonder what to do

I tried closing my ears

But they are invinsible

Could it be that my hands are short?

Is it because my fingers are too short?

Or simply that I can't let go?

But then I noticed that

Even with ultimacy of time

Silence is not the best weapon home

My ear drums are inside my heart

And my heart beats for you

So I hear you with every beat

They say,....

Loudest is the West African drum

However none is as voicy as my heart

Although am not a Westerner

And never shall I be

For black was I born

You are the voice that I hear

Inside of me with smooth pulse

That won't get me out of bed

Tho' my tea is gone cold

The morning rain clouds up my window

Even if I could it will all be gray

Lets paint the city red

They said with Valentine love

However I'll forever pain my heart

With the color of your love

For it always lives with you inside

And forever it will beat for you.
