Be Somebody

"I'll never be as good as..."

Shut the fuck up, and pick yourself up,

For God's sake, step the fuck up,

And be somebody new.

Your idols are all dead; they lived their lives.

They built careers, and dug out holes,

In the memories of tomorrow's children,

Why don't you live yours?

"I'll be the next..."

No. You'll be the only you.

Stop reaching for something already built,

Pre-packaged ingenuity, conveniently spelled out on your fridge.

Imitation is not flattery,

But a statement to your own lack of originality.

Make it better or make it new,

Do whatever, but aim to be just like you.
