To be Selfish, Or to be Giving

To be given the gift to change something in life, for anyone…

Selfish me, says to change my attitude, to change the way I view life.

Giving me, says to change the way kids are being treated, who are bullied and isolated by ‘peers’.

Selfish me, says to change my eyes, so they don’t cry as much, so that people will not get frustrated with me.

Caring me, says to change the way my sister feels about our father, so that one day they can have a good relationship.

Selfish me, says to change my heart, so that I won’t be afraid to love, or to be hurt.

Thoughtful me, says to change the heart of my mother, so she can move on from the past, and live a good life.

Selfish me, says to change my whole being, so that I am not the person that disappoints myself or others.

But deep down I just want everyone to be happy and get along.

I want the fighting to stop, I want the hatred to stop, I want the resentment to stop.

I want people to not be afraid to love, I want people to not be afraid of the strange, I want people to not be afraid of the unknown.

I want myself and others to accept myself and others.

Maybe that is a bit selfish in the end, but I am human and I want people to accept that.

I want people to be okay, with making mistakes, with having faults, with bearing scars.

I want the change to be acceptance.
