Be Heard: Don't Take Away My God Given Talent
Locations
Loud,
Frustrating,
Belittled.
To anyone else it would seem to be the taunting of everyday school yard
miscreants.
But here is where there is a difference, for the voices that are so loud
frustrating and belittling? They come from within.
My mom always told me to stand up for myself.
Be heard.
Be bold
Be true.
That’s what she asked of me,
Bet she never thought the
Loud,
Frustrating,
Belittled;
Voice, came from me.
Stand up she said, and stand up I will.
No more do these words define me. Instead they are what was in the past
The time gone by
On the silent waves of the wind that never lasts.
Instead they are part of me, and what is to become my story, my voice.
Stand,
Arise,
Fight.
Resist the temptations of those that don’t want you to become who you were
destined to be. Her voice, loud and clear
Use the
Loud,
Frustrating,
Belittled,
Voice to shape your roar,
Your battle ground
Your game plan,
Your inner tiger.
Don’t walk away
Don’t back away
Don’t sit down
Let your voice be heard ringing over the red-clayed mountains of Georgia
and into the valleys of Tennesee,
That the iconic Martin Luther King Jr's dreams can be accomplished
Holding hands, one by one.
To the top of ours lugs we'll make ourselves heard. Being free.
I tell myself
And what are we being freed from? One may ask.
Bonds
Prision holds
Chains in which we ourselves create,
Free at last to use our voice to advocate for the mute and the silent still in
bondage
In countries where the loving gift of speech is not allowed.
A voice for those not yet given the ability to speak still hidden in the dark
tomb of a round belly.
"They can't determine weather or not they should be born!" Critics yell.
"It is the mother's choice what she does with it!" They continue.
An yet its also God's choice to let that unspoken voice live.
For invisible though it may be to the outside world,
It still can be heard,
It is heard in the back pain
In the morning sickness
In the growns and the cries of labor pain and kicking.
It is heard in the thump, thump, thump of the heart
I am the unspoken child
I am the Christian hidden underground
I am the belittled and broken school girl to scared to fight;
I am a voice to those who fight to be noticed, to be looked at yet remain unseen.
Be heard
Be bold
Be true.
Stop hiding under the hood of adversity, discrimination, and weakness!
You were created with a mouth
To be vocal
To be loud
So what if some find you frustrating?
Use your God given talent to show the world you are above and beyond the
crooked and manipulating views of society
Her voice rings in my ears as these words flood the page as deep
and as wide as the ocean sea.
Be heard.
Be loud
Be bold
Be true.
Speak OUT
SPEAK UP
Speak TRUTH
SPEAK YOU.
