The Bassist

Nobody digs the bassist

Or hears his low note tunes

No one recognizes him

The bassist has the blues.

They think he’s not as good because

He only has four strings

They say he’s not as cool because

He doesn’t ever sing.

They say he doesn’t matter

Pretend he isn’t there

But if the bassist went away

The band would get nowhere.
