BARRIER

A cold night, the whispering winds soaring

The midnight moon shining like a bright light.

The dark blue sky kissing the waters of the Muranga Rivers

By the banks of the river, there she sat, quietly-

Quietly thinking, as the cold wind brushed her dark face.

The face of no emotions.

She looked at the still waters, thinking so deeply,

‘why, why? Why am I so wary?’

She thought of these words countlessly

Expecting an answer, but no response.

With a sigh, she stared at the steady waters

‘why do you not hate me?

Is it the change in your heart? Do you still love me?

Does it not hurt you? can you not see?

Will you ever understand?’

A trickle of the salty water forming in her eyes.

The lump on her throat growing, even harder for her to speak

She felt a warm hand touch her shoulder, she knew

‘’Why am I not hating you, I hated you so deeply.

Now my heart longs for you, I hate that I miss you

I hate that I wat you back ‘’ she whispers

The tears began to flow down her soft cheeks

She turns to face the person

The plain face, trying to hide the real emotion:

Eyes of the dark soil,

She looked at him with pain

Her eyes speaking for her and she knew.

All this happened and she still spoke

‘’Please leave me alone, you hurt me

I push you away but you still come back ‘’

He pulled her into his arms

With an instant, she used all her strength to push him away

But he will not let go.

She tries again, but finally gave in

Finally, she gave in, she stopped

As quiet as it is, she could hear his heartbeat

then a vibration from his chest

‘’Be still ‘’ he whispers

Her breathing is slow and calm

The wind drying her wet cheeks

She did not think, she did not know

She could not hold it, but she let it go

She spoke, with the slightest voice, her final words

‘’Please come back to me, dear brother’’.
