A Ball of Yarn

Shall I compare the world

To a ball of yarn?

We play with it,

We pounce on it,

And we let the ball

Of yarn roll until

Everything's unraveled.

Then we roll it back

Up into a ball

That doesn't resemble

The same perfect

Sphere it once held.

Yet the yarn is

Soft to touch, and

The yarn is hard

To spindle and break,

And with our hands

We knit and crochet

Sweaters, hats, socks

Galore!

And we sell them on

The market, hoping

For them to buy, and

Sometimes they want

Something to keep

Them warm, and other

Times they prefer

To run in the cold.

But no matter what,

We must keep knitting

In order to warm the

Children with our sweaters.
