Awes of My Life
The Awes of My Life
sometimes I forget how awesome my life is
like, literally awe inspiring
which it is, thanks often to little work of my own
but then I think of the things I've done
I've travelled in a metal tube thousands of miles in the air
to places that previously only existed to me through stories whose events have shaped my life as I know it
and it took me only hours
– that was awesome.
I've talked to a girl who lives on the opposite side of the world from me
on religion and how it is a driving force of humanity that can have us do both great and terrible things
through what is, to me
technological magic of metal and wires and electricity fixed into a small metal box with a fancy glass cover
– that was awesome.
I've learned that the space I live in is vastly large, infinite in fact and that
I live on a giant rock hurtling through this infinite with other giant rocks around a ball of fire in a system which is itself also spinning around with other systems in a group called a galaxy
which there are an infinite number of
– and that is awesome.
All around me are things which are plainly awful-
discrimination based on race and gender and amount of money
pain caused by as of yet incurable mental and physical illnesses
destruction of resources and the rock we live on
and many others
but not everything is discriminated against, not all illnesses are incurable and there are many resources waiting to be tapped into
my life is truly awe inspiring thanks to people in the past who could not:
imagine what an airplane is, what a phone is, or that space in its entirety is infinite
my life is truly awe inspiring thanks to people in the past who could:
imagine what an airplane is, what a phone is, and that space in its entirety is infinite
sometimes I forget how awesome my life is
like, literally awe inspiring
so a thanks to the people whose hard work is responsible for this high standard of living
and to those that continue to raise that bar
and let me do the things I've done,
'cause they were awesome
