This horn is my answer for fear unborn

The dreams of my future; heavy they weigh

I will always find peace in my jazz horn

Large steps that mark my path to fame adorn

The fear and doubt I must hide from display

This horn is my answer for fear unborn

My legs feel weak and my courage forlorn

The judges glares feel cold and gray

I will always find peace in my jazz horn

Deep down within the bell my sound is born

My notes of jazz are like a fresh bouquet

This horn is my answer for fear unborn

Golden splendor of scales, my hope reborn

Flitting of keys, my preparation on display

I will always find peace in my jazz horn

Wonder no more as their applause gives warn

My path now clear with the news of the day

This horn is my answer for fear unborn

I will always find peace in my jazz horn

I will be pursuing a BM in Jazz Studies fall of 2015 at the University of North Texas. I have auditioned for five colleges during my selection process. The audition is the most nerve racking experience and the largest obstacle to overcome as a musician. Therefore, the audition process was my inspiration for the poem. Enjoy!
