At...o clock in the morning
You picked me up in your rugged car
I threw myself upon you.
We looked up and saw the stars,
Big, bright and Beautiful.
Our escape was made Three hours on the dot,
Before the sun would rise.
Our bodies couldn’t stand, you held my hand,
We sat in the silence listening to our smiles.
Neither tired to move we laid arm in arm,
In the silence of the dawn.
The steam from our lips fogged the windows,
We remained at the mercy of time.
Hours turned to minutes and minute into moments,
Each moment better than the next.
A laugh and a kiss
All of this I miss.
We sat in the silence of the night.
I held your hand, your body cold,
No longer within my grasp.
You brushed your hair and parked the car,
A single tear fell like star light.
A hug goodbye and a hand to the cheek,
The moment gone for good.
The happiest I was walking down the street,
Our hearts yearned for moments more.
I remember now the way you looked
In the silence of the night.
