Ashes

Here I stand, belieiving in someone who never believed in themselves
walking through the night, feeling no emotion at all
having the most dangerous job in America isn’t easy, but isn't hard
I feared nothing, felt nothing, wanted nothing, wanted everything
There is no use trying to relate to tell those who have a home
I had nothing, they have everything
I wanted nothing, but to seek safety in the arms of others
Yet, I am still alive.
Wow. Alive. Ashes.
What people think of as ugly,
I find beautiful
I find beauty in the scars of others
I believe they are the ones who wanted everything and would give anything
I believe in the kindness of strangers
Human wants and needs fighting an endless battle
Don’t give up. Keep fighting.
