The Artist as the Canvas

I carry my canvas
It shapes my mind’s eye
It makes people feel
What I bury inside
It makes people see
What I see through their eyes
It makes people wonder
What talents I hide

I am the canvas
That only hearts can touch
I hold the strokes of
The soul artist’s brush
No one may form
a solid picture in my frame
it changes and shifts
and melds throughout the day

I carry my canvas
Everywhere I go
It runs down my back
Around my toes
Over my eyes
And under my nose
To express me entirely
I am the canvas
