Argus - the many eyed mother

Though many old myths

Go in one ear and out the other,

We all have met argus,

The intensely strict mother.

Whether pretending to sleep

or sneaking down the hall,

there is no hiding,

for she knows and sees all.

She is the guardian--

as strict as can be.

If you try to conceal something,

Trust me -- she’ll see.

Tracking every movement,

With her many eyes and your telephone,

Though you may think so,

You are never truly alone.

Known for intense scrutiny

To a distressing degree,

Both mom’s and argus

Can always see.

Don’t try to run,

Avoid getting too near,

For any attempt at lies

She will surely hear.

While two eyes closed

Each night to sleep,

The rest are open,

So you shouldn’t attempt to sneak.

She guards the treasure

That is your safety,

Though when you cross her,

She usually seems crazy.

A hero to some,

A monster to others,

The myth will never die,

because we love our many eyed mothers.
