Aren't We All Behind a Curtain?
Living behind a curtain? It's what we all do. I used to think it was just me. But now I see its everyone, maybe even you.
Don't we all try to impess? Be what someone tells us we should be? Whether that be parents, church, school, or society?
When did it become wrong to think? To use ones intellect to establish their own understanding. What happened to our unique capablilities? What are we now planning?
Parents push to put school first. It's your education that matters. Friends, relationships, dating; it's all miniscule in the scheme of things. Why are those relationships shattered?
They are right, I'll never get anywhere without hard work. But when do I decide for me? When does my intellect show? When will you let me be?
Church is where I am put straight. Church is a wonderful place. I remember the foundations of my love. And I am reminded about God's never ending grace.
But why do people make it seem, that if you've committed a sin you're forever damning. Have they not learned the truth? Why do they preach in such a wrong way? We do things in the name of religion that shows no parallel to what the Bible does say.
We judge those who aren't within the community as if they are lower than us. Does God not love us all? The man who wears tattoos like a shirt, swears when he talks, is put into that category. But he is also the man who gives to the needy, prayers for the poor, works hard with a good heart, the man who Jesus will call.
Most professrs don't teach you to think for youself. It's about earning that degree to make money, right? If you knew how to think on your own, what a dangerous conclusion that could be. To let your opinions come forth and let your imaginitation take flight.
So we hide our opinions, because we need that A. We listen to the lectures to the point where we disagree. But why not speak up? Why does that make us the enemy?
Society may be the worst of all. Why take the time to find out the truth? The news will tell me straight. Why does no one educate themselves before heading to the voting booth?
We're told that we are racist if we say anything demeaning to a black man. Did anyone ever ask him, do you have a life plan?
Why do we make any conclusion based on the color of one's skin? Why don't we proceed to observe their morals? Their teachings? Their actions?
When did we decide we weren't going to work for anything? Why does my generation expect handouts? When did we stop learning the ideals of our country? The future of it all, I do have my doubts.
But I've asked a ot of questions and I can't be the only one. We all seem to hide behind some curtain that we can choose to step out from behind. Do you have that courage? To take a step out and let your colors shine?
Humans will alwways disagree. But wouldn't you rather try to live in front of the curtain than living life where no one will see?
