Appreciation of A Mother
Location
Her breasts
created to negate my subjection to hunger
But what exactly is her purpose?
To continually nurture?
I've become of age and no longer long for her nutrients
but still, deep inside, I long for her nurturing
Our lifelong bond stems from the womb
I've become acquiesced to the idea that departure will be soon
Although I've now become
A resident of a commodious world that engulfs me
We haven't failed to remain one
My self-proclaimed journey has begun
I subconsciously know that I will not endure it alone
Because as long as she remains my mother
I have eternally secured a home

I think everyone does, at some level, have a special connection with their mother--they sustained us for nine months within their bodies, and I think happiness and childhood, for many people, may be recalled in memories and characteristics of their mother. It's a very primal, visceral connection, and drawing inspiration from that relationship is only natural. This is a poem I believe everyone can relate to and, in turn, draw inspiration from. Thanks for sharing!
