Another Sappy Love Sonnet

Since life is hard, to deal with love I’ve brought

A mantra tried and true, and old as dirt:

That of waste not, want not; date not, flaunt not;

To hide yourself from love protects from hurt

Without my walls I’m slain by every strike

Exposed myself to lonely longing spears

I’m naked from my love and lust alike

And shaking from the bitter winter near

Your name like music and your face like light

Have torn my walls and opened up my heart

To pain and pining from your very sight

It matters not if we’ll not be apart

Perhaps my walls’ protection has grown old

Since love feels warmer once you’ve felt the cold
