Another Sad Story

Thu, 11/01/2012 - 23:20 -- cmwjsc

We're all liars and thieves, bending over backwards to live again
I look around this desolate town and see old ex-lovers and childhood friends
We dig in the dirt to find those times again

We pray at night, wondering when it'll get better
Wondering why and how the world can be so cruel for so long
We're good people now, but it's only a matter of time

I can see dark clouds in the distance, hanging over our minds
Can we take another straw on our broken backs
Another stone on our weary chests, we fight for every last breath

I cry with my mothers and sisters, fathers, brothers, hopeless now
Will I fall before your eyes like another leaf from this withering tree
While you hold your head up high and step right over me

Every penny I've spent adds another tear to my eyes
Another hitch in my breath
Another sad story that no one wants to hear again
