The movement never ended

Burning churches have become mosque
Black power has become gay pride
Only love can conquer hate
If the movement taught us anything, there’s no time to waste

The schools in my city are far from equal
Those with the most brown students, seem the most bored
That is unless we’re on the court
Malcolm I’m sorry, that’s what we stand for

It gives me chills there are millions of Emmett Tills still getting killed

Look to the leaders
Look to the lord
We need someone, something to believe in
Tell me where is the dream?

As long as we have poor
As long we have wars
Stabbing, fighting, killing each other
I’m sorry but it will be hard to call you my brother

The president gives hope, but until our states are united, we will remain segregated

Join hands with me, black or white
Straight or gay
Rich or poor
Christian or Muslim

The movement was for us
As it is, was, and ever shall be
No matter what our differences are
We are all human

I think I’ve found your dream
