America the Great, Really?

Thu, 05/11/2017 - 02:38 -- melmart

America the great,

oh yeah? If it's so great then why did we vote a president who hates

He hates on the coloured,

He hates on the women,

Heck, he even hates Americans.

But half of the nation is blind,

they can't see what they've done,

they don't want to know what they've done.

They allowed him in, to rule.

What fools.

In the 1900s people immigrated to this land

For the American Dream,

that's all we ever wanted.

But that dream is not a reality,

it's a propaganda to get people here,

it's a trap for those who weren't here first,

it's a lie that our grandparents and great-grandparents shoved down their throats,

anything to make their new lives less scary.

But that dream had consequences,

no longer were the roads paved with gold.

Instead black men and women were beaten, stripped to our eyes,

stripped to become slaves,

stripped to become no one.

Japanese-Americans were sent to camps at one point,

all because the President said so,

it seems that men are willing to follow blindly if it meant 'saving their country'.

What country? The United States didn't belong to the Americans to begin with.

It seems that history has tried to hide the Native Americans,

it seems that they tried to ignore the rapes and murder that were conducted by the colonists against Native Americans.

it  seems that they tried to hide the fact that after the Native Americans helped Americans to survive, that Americans crossed them.

Killed them.

Burnt them.

Raped them.

Took their land.

And claimed it as their own?

So America the great?

Really?

This country is a walking contradiction.

We cry for people's mental health for when it benefits us

but we won't do anything to help

We allow parents to not vaccinate their children

We allow parents to abuse their kids

We allow rapists to walk free

We allow people to be convicted longer for a minor felony

We allow sexism to happen

We allow people to buy guns

We allow white men who murder to walk free

We allow whiteness

We allow the KKK to still exist!

So, don't tell me how beautiful this country is, when there is so much ugly.

It's ridiculous that we bomb countries for having different religions.

How we are so willing to adopt kids from other countries yet turn our heads the other directions when their are kids in foster care not a mile away from us.

How we ridicule those who speak a different language but require students to take at least 2 years of foreign language and praise them for saying "Gato" and "Me llamo".

How we rolls our eyes when we see foreigners for wearing anything that's part of their culture, like we didn't steal fashion from all parts of the world.

How we say that there' s diversity in Hollywood, so tell me why I haven't seen a dark-skinned Mexican or black person.

How we say that Gays and Lesbians are going to hell and we quote the bible yet our POTUS has been divorced a couple of times so is he going to hell too?

Or does that not apply to people like him?

America is a walking contradiction.

And I'm sick of it.

So America the great?

Yeah, no. It's not so great.

It's gotten to the point where I wish that I was white,

that way my voice would actually be heard.

It's gotten to the point where I fear for my siblings' lives because I'm worried of a kid shooting up their school.

It's gotten to the point where I'm worried when my brother goes to the store at 10 p.m. because I'm afraid that he'll get killed.

It's gotten to the point where I'm crying at night for my parents and their safety, and wondering if immigrating here was worth it.

Cause right now,

it doesn't seem to be.
