America is a Black Woman (excerpt from my novel Color Me Lovely)

America is a black woman.

From the curves of her sides to the sway of her lakes, America is a black woman.

Her body, the region in which many claim as their home.

Her body, a battlefield, dance floor, and sex chamber, yet the world finds the beauty within it all.

She is selfless.

She gives her people everything she has to offer, receiving nothing but hate in return.

Her people convinced her that she is nothing without them, yet she is the foundation of everything they are.

America is tired of being mistaken for a rich pale skinned man with no morals.

America is a black woman.
