Always self

Ecclesiastes 4:4

New English Translation

Labor Motivated by Envy

4 Then I considered all the skillful work that is done:

Surely it is nothing more than competition between one person and another.

This also is profitless—like chasing the wind.

“Sorry-full and pitiful “. Yes, that is me!

Moving on strength of others in this race

Ignoring The Lord and beaten in my greed

In the search of fleshly glory written on my face

The end clearly before me from before the beginning

The starting blocks I moved for my own advantage

I started already running before the first inning

To defeat all others with me as I acted like a savage

Now the end of the race with the finish line in sight

To quench my thirst I steal water from the fallen

I need to finish well to be admired in the lime-light

For all to see and adored as my name they’re calling
