Alone in Such Cold, Large World
“Why is the world so cold?”
A child asked upon-a-time,
There’s nowhere to get food and shelter,
There’s nowhere to feel warm.
Across the street he saw a shop,
With cheerful, yet so greedy people…
He wished for just one tiny crumb,
To fall into his hands, so skinny and so little…
He made mistake, all people do,
He wished to be an orphan.
Yet now anything he’ll do,
To feel the love, and hear the voice of that one, loved one.
He gazes at the window as in the search for hope,
But no one even cares to glance a little, nope.
A woman passing by just thought of him disgustingly, “A beggar”,
And starts to run and starts to rush,
As if he’s giving her some kind of push.
Again he stands there all alone, in this wide world, so large and cold.
“Oh if she would have known,” he thought all to himself,
“That I, I AM that child, who helped pick up her scarf,
Who smiled every morning when she was passing by,
And who so wished to say, ‘Hi, mommy!’, but didn’t just know how.
My daddy took me in but very soon he died,
He didn’t see that huge wide truck was driving by,
And I was told, he lost control, and my, oh my.
The world’s so cold and here alone…without you by my side,
Oh mommy, why'd you left me, why, oh PLEASE do tell me why.
How much he, oh, regrets for wishes made in past,
But past has passed and here he stands,
Alone in this shady darkness…
