All I Need to Live Free
She dances it all away until there is no yesterday,
nor tomorrow or today.
Hardwood floor and mirror take their place,
surrounding her with their grace.
To dance is to erase the utter decay
of a body continuously worn away,
of a body snagged and lead astray.
For when she’s exhausted of this rat race,
She dances it all away.
Her freedom is found in ballet,
in jazz, hip hop, and even reggae.
In this most sacred, musical space
she has found her home base,
for when everything else is drab and gray,
She dances it all away.
