Only One Sun

Dark, cold, and alone

I didn’t know the sun rose

Until the day it brightened the sky

And the grassy hills where we lied

We teased giggled told our secrets

We played sang and ran a bit

I never told you I ran to be with you

Now I run to stop thinking of you

The day the sun rose brought a smile

But just before it departed it sent a flood

Once gone it never returned

And once again I’m stuck

Hoping one day the sun will rise again

Dark, cold, and alone

I almost regret that day

Because it went away

But I don’t
