All I Need

It's easy to list the things I need.

The things that are most important in life.

My friends and family,

my boyfriend and pets,

maybe even music and art.

But when it comes down to it,

and I really do have to pick one,

it feels shallow to choose a material object,

and it feels selfish to choose a person.

So I have to think

of the one thing I truly need,

that has been with me since the moment I was born,

and will be with me until the day I day.

The one thing I truly cannot live without,

and will seize to exist without.

And although it feels weird to admit it,

I have come to terms with the importance of this entity,

and I have accepted it.

So to answer the question,

what is the one thing I can't live without?

Myself.
