Alice Redux

My mind is a cage

And my eyes are a stage

For fires to dance in a cloudy haze

They burn but they are smothered

So I step into another

day when I say everything is okay

Even if it’s not

And the day ticks by on my analog clock

And my heart twists into a confused knot

And the moon comes up and I’m lost in my thoughts

It’s rough I curl up because I’m not enough

The world is too much

The day is done

The rabbit runs

We’re lost before the night’s begun

We shrink until we’re small

Then we drink until we’re tall

Looking for a straight path until we fall

down the rabbit hole

Fall beyond your head, fall beyond the truth

Fall to a time of innocence and youth

Please remember, please understand

The girl who plays in Wonderland
