After the Bees

Conversation between Mother and Child

the year is 2030* (or sooner)

After the Bees

were destroyed through

better chemical living

used in our foods

used in our water,

used in the air,

after the bees were gone

then the fireflys were next

their lights

went out one by one

the night air

no longer sparkles

with their tiny glow

No jar full of magic lanterns

with wings

for you

no enchanted nights

just

nights full of hunger

days full of fear

no better life through chemicals....

I fear the crickets now

are chirping our last song...
