Adrift

I think

You are perfect,

And maybe its not the time to say but

I think we could be perfect.

As cliché as that sounds,

The voices in my head have been playing me like

A con artist scrounging the subway streets of New York City,

But from the time you first said

Hello

It would echo though my head

Until my hair turned grey

Because you see I’ve been away

Been lost at sea

For quite some time now.

My heart sent me adrift on a makeshift raft that would

Send splinters down my spine

Every time I moved.

Out of all the ships that have flown by

I think

You

Are the one worth getting paralyzed for

Because you see I’ve been away,

Been lost at sea

With only the sound of the waves

To keep my lonely heart company,

But I have been hearing the horns of

Your ship dance upon my eardrums

Like a blue jay on a sweet summers day

And I think I am going to let you

Take me away.
