Acl's Change Things
You play every moment of every game
You think everything will stay the same
You never think it'll be you
The one who would hear, "Oh look at you"
You come out hard like any other day
Rallying your team with words to get them to play
A game that feels like any other
Changes your life forever
The moment no, you won't forget
You will only have sadness and regret
Maybe you shouldn't have played
But that couldn't have kept you away
But living in the past
Won't make the time go fast
Many months go
But your work won't let that show
Of course it's hard to get back
But every setback calls for a comeback
The PT will be long and hard
Hours on top of hours
Waking at the break of dawn
So early that you can see the dew on the lawn
5:45 is when everything starts
Cause you need to get a head start
PT, school, soccer, homework, and more PT
Before you know it, it's time to leave
Rehab is a long process
But if you're diligent, it can lead to success
Everyone gives you sympathy
But all you want is to get back playing
Over time, though, you start to see things different
You suddenly become more observant
Although you can't contribute in your normal way,
The coach gives you a reason to stay
He makes you assistant coach, along with captain
While nothing else seems to flow like a fountain
You make every practice because that's who you are
You're there for the team with only "yours, mine, and ours"
You're there to support, to grow, and to learn
Before you know it, it'll be your turn
You're the one they write about
The one they said would never turn out
The one who stunned
All of the "it's too hard to be done"s
But once you get back, you'll prove them wrong
You'll wow them, show them an ACL won't take you down
Because when something's your passion
You work for it, no other way to ration
When you're back, you'll be stronger than ever
Then you won't dwell on that moment forever
You'll be playing full minutes again
And even in time for regionals and nationals to begin
You'll realize that that moment made you stronger
And that maybe, it was for the better
You thought you were the one who lost it all
When in reality, you never lost anything at all
