For Abbi

I never thought about mythical beings as being anything but legend

I fought past my imagination long ago

And let childish dreams die

I looked at faeries and imps, goddesses and sprites

Nothing but words on paper

Ink in a drawing

Imagination run wild.

I never believed in god,

Far too large a mission for one omnipotent being.

And yet

When I heard you laugh,

I thought only of how an angel might do the same.

Brighter days, better life,

Until you became a myth, too.
