4 in and 4 out

When you tell me I’m just overthinking—

Or I need to stop worrying

You aren’t looking closely enough

You do not understand that when I walk into a room—

I feel all eyes on me.

You do not understand that talking in front of the class

Makes my whole-body freeze.

You do not understand that when I’m in the back of the room-

Quiet as can be- my mind is panicking.

You do not understand that I’m only chugging down coffee

Because I lost sleep last night-

Due to countless panic attacks.

You do not understand that I’m only procrastinating

Because I’m too worried I won’t have enough

Time to perfect all my work.

When you tell me I’m just overthinking-

Or I need to stop worrying-

You do not understand the mess,

Called my mind.
