I am slumbering
Shifting in my cotton sheets
Tangling further in them
Till I cry out for fear of chains

I am waking
Opening my eyes to a din
Whimpering atmosphere says 'run
Till your feet are calloused'

I am nodding
Weeping lightly, rising to my feet
Falling out the door into refuge
Till the law shows its face again
