Is it not enough that I ask for respect
Until that time, I seem to detest
That my fellow beings are being treated
Such as though they are not being greeted
Until that day, when our rights are granted
I shall stand here without resentment
I see the future bright and flourishing
But now we are burrowing
Let it be clear MLK did them well
But now we stand here to tell
That we are ready for our chance
To belong in the romance
It does not matter whether black or white
We have a President in spite
People think, this has gone away
But I fear, it is forever to stay
Great poets like Langston Hughes
Provided the Harlem way for us to fuse,
Our promise to grow and to speak
Until or brothers decide to meet
I am not hear as black or white
I am not hear to tell whats right
All I know is that those like Malcom X
Are wrong for their crucifix
Those like Rosa Parks stand strong
Those like me write strong poems
What is it I want to accomplish?
I just want all to to not be languished.
